happy fri-DEE everyone!

Dashy sometimes stares off into space, and I always wonder what he is thinking about…. then it hit me… perhaps he dreams of being one of the guards at Buckingham Palace… you know, the poor guys who have to stand perfectly still and ignore everything you do?! Totally Dash!

Dashy and Ivan looking out for the hurricane…

Because Ivan and Dash have squishy faces (which is a much more technical term than brachycephalic, even though that’s what, you know, a veterinarian might call them.) they are inefficient panters.  This is bad because on hot, hot, ANNOYINGLY SUPER GROSS hot days like UM THIS PAST SUMMER (no, no, it wasn’t all bad, just like 86%) it is dangerous for them to be out for the nice long walks we like to take.  And it is difficult to explain this to them since, well, they’re dogs.  Please note the serious case of panty face they had after just ten minutes outside.

I joke about it, but it can be very serious. If you have a squishy dog, please take care to keep them cool in this extra hot, extra LAME weather.  And squishy or not don’t ever leave your dog (or cat, or ferret or chinchilla or parakeet etc. etc. etc.) in the car! Even on just a warm day the temperature inside the car can rise very fast.  And in heat like this, it’s an oven.  You may come back to your car and find a very sick dog.

Or, an angry animal lover waiting to yell at you about leaving your dog in the car, and who wants that?

The boys are B O R E D.  It has been too hot to go for long walks, so they used all their stored up energy to murder a “stuffie”…. FRESH! :)

Took the boys for a walk early this morning before it got too hot.  We walk by this big pillar all the time and I’ve always wanted to stick Ivan up there, so we gave it a shot.  PLEASE NOTE I was ALWAYS less than arms length away and he was very, very still.  If he had been walking around, crying, or trying to jump I would have taken him down right away.  He sat down as soon as I put him up there, I snapped these shots and got him down.

After that we headed to town and the boys took some time to rest on a few benches, then home for a nap… they deserved it :)

This picture of Ivan kills me.  I was about to close up shop and go to bed when I noticed he had his little paw out from under the covers.  THEN I saw that he was holding onto his bone… precious!

The picture of Dashy is cute, but he’s ALWAYS cute. I used it because it’s a clear shot of his gray beard! GRAY! He just turned 4! He is going to need some just for men dogs!

Ivan and Dashy do some tricks.

Dash seems to be recovering nicely from his mystery illness.  Here are a few pictures from the last day or so.  The boys on a walk, then Ivan doing what he does best… killing stuffies.  Don’t worry, he wasn’t really in trouble, but doesn’t he look sooo guilty in that last picture?
